2009 grammy nominations

The longest award show in the history of award shows has revealed its nominees for the 2009 Grammy Awards.

The Grammys generally come in just ahead of the Tonys as the most boring awards show of the year. That said, we appreciate the Recording Academy's efforts to pump it up, and were pleasantly entertained by last night's Nomination Concert.

The Foo Fighers cover of "You're So Vain" brought a angsty vibe to the old Carly Simon classic, and our girl crush on co-host Taylor Swift was solidified with her rendition of Brenda Lee's "I'm Sorry". Take that, Joe Jonas.

As far as the nominations go, the nods seemed to reflect sales as much as singing chops, but what else is new. Here are the nominees in some of the top categories. For a full list, head to grammy.com.
